Invalid URL when opening an application from the search form

Searching for an application in the search from and then clicking on an item in the suggestions "dropdown" will lead to an invalid URL where the application name is preceded by two slashes //appname. Example shown below.

Suggested a fix for this via #589 some time ago (but hadn't reported an issue here at first).
